Thanksgiving 2009

It was an interesting Thanksgiving this year. After Mike ran a very high fever for 3 days straight, we decided not to mess around any longer and get him some help! We called off the 5k we had planned on running (and walking) and went straight to the ER (because that's the only place open and providing medical attention for the holidays). Poor Mike had the much feared flu. He was quite out of it all weekend. As a result, I played nurse. After tucking him warmly in bed (3 hours in the ER can take quite the toll) I went to Thanksgiving Dinner up at my Parent's house while Mike slept for 14 hours straight.

The menu was fabulous! Good thing all the cranberry dishes were made on Tuesday, and the pies and rolls were made on Wednesday! Although I helped my mom and Melissa brainstorm and come up with the menu, after Mom fell sick on Thanksgiving, it was all left to Melissa to really pull off the day....and pull it off she did! Although we were several family members down with the count, our meal didn't suffer one bit!

After we had all digested our food (enough), we dug into PIE! We originally had TONS of guests planning to make appearances for pie, but after so many of us fell sick, we thought it was best to keep the group small. All the more pie for the rest of us right?

With a small group only consisting of myself, Dad, Steve and Melissa, Carsen, Raegan and GP, it was a different thanksgiving, but it was very fun. Pictures of the feast to come. In the meantime, I'm full! And no worries - Mike eventually got his Thanksgiving Dinner. Friday night he was up for the excursion and we stuffed ourselves with leftovers.
